Impressive landscapes, long golden sandy beaches, traditional fisherman’s villages, fascinating spots and secluded bays, some animated bars ad bistros for the aperitif, Byzantine churches and a warm breeze from midday to the sunset… This is what you find in the homeland of Odysseus, the most famous Homer’s hero, and all around the Ionian Islands. And that is why so many people who have been sailing around this area, finally come back every now and then.
Let’s discover some possible itineraries together…
An itinerary from Dubrovnik to Split
A fascinating journey through the history and pristine bays of Croatia: surfing the cobalt blue waters, with the sun and the wind as good fellows, landing in places where the ruins of the past conquerors, mainly Venetian, create an atmosphere which sounds exotic and familiar at the same time, a “journey within a journey” that will leave us with unforgettable memories… Photos and an itinerary from Dubrovnik to Split, plus some useful information about Airports in Croatia

As we patiently await the warmer weather and the long summer days, we are preparing Orianda for the next season 2013. Whilst the usual winter maintenance program is under way, we are considering where to take Orianda next summer.
We will be sailing around Capri and Ponza during May, while we will set sail to Greece by the beginning of June.
July and August are likely to be spent between the Cote d’Azur and the Italian Tyrrhenian coast (Portofino, Elba, Ponza, Capri and the ever charming Aeolian Islands). Some of our Guests have already expressed an interest in making provisional bookings during July and August (but they still are flexible on the dates). September and October have had some interest with requests for Orianda to be attending the classic regattas in Monaco and Saint Tropez. See our Booking Plan 2013
Spetses Island, Monemvasia, Elafonissos and Kithira Island. They are among the most beautiful destinations for those who choose to sail around an unspoiled region of Greece, such as the Peloponnese. Unfortunately they are not so close one another. This means that to visit them all in a week, starting from Athens, we would have to sail quite few miles almost every day: 25-30 Miles per day as average. Perhaps too much, in my opinion. Since I wouldn’t want to miss any of them as they are so special, another option could be to embark in Spetses, instead of Athens, so cutting the very first part of the trip. Spetses island is connected to Athens through daily Hydrofoil connections.
Otherwise there is always the alternative option of sailing from Athens to Kithira in ten days instead of seven. This way will would have average daily sailings of 15-20 Nautical Miles, meaning one hour or so in the morning + around three hours in the afternoon, when the wind comes up. To me, this rhythm of sailing is the best way to enjoy free time with family and friends, swimming in the bay and also have some time for you to relax.[An itinerary to sail in the Peloponnese]
